Sustainable fish trays, 50% recycled content, no absorbent pads, optimal pallet utilisation, low carbon footprint…
…so what’s the catch?
Sharp Interpack (Sharpak) has introduced two new fish trays, the F2 and F3 - they’re made from recycled PP and PET – but that’s just the start.
Sharpak lead the way in environmental packaging and has, over the years, significantly reduced dependency on non-renewable resources. In fact it was the first UK packaging manufacturer to use recycled material in the process.
Through a clever and innovative design the company has removed the need for padding offering processors potentially fewer changeovers and a reduced cost base. And because the trays are padless this delivers yet another environmental benefit because less material is used in the process. Trays designed with ‘Sharplok’ have mini cavities exactly designed to retain drip loss and natural juices released from the fish. They’ve also considered warehouse space and with an improved a-b denest addressed pallet utilisation – up to 80% improvement resulting in a significant reduction in truck numbers on our roads.
The trays are formed on the highly efficient and energy-saving Rotary Thermoforming Process (RTF), a ‘green’ technology naturally in step with the environment.
The F2 and F3 fish trays have been purposefully designed for the rigours of today’s packing systems and for the future advances that will occur in the development of even more demanding processes. The new F2 and F3 have excellent rigidity and impact strength able to withstand the most challenging and demanding in-transit and pack-house environments.
This is no catch. The seafood sector is making real advances in terms of both the product and the packaging – these new trays from Sharpak take it to an even higher level of environmental good practice, awareness and understanding.
