Company History

  •  2011

    • January: The three manufacturing sites at Aylesham in Kent, Bridgwater in Somerset and Yate near Bristol became independent, self-contained limited liability companies. Each site retaining the name 'Sharpak' and renamed Sharpak Aylesham, Sharpak Bridgwater, Sharpak Yate with the sales office in the Netherlands re-named Sharpak Nederland
    • April: Mushroom punnets in c-LOW now have a 33% lower carbon footprint than conventional PP. This is the lowest carbon footprint punnet on the market today, fully exceeding the objectives of Courtauld 2 which aims to reduce the carbon impact of grocery packaging by 10%
    • October: c-LOW material now being introduced into the meat and poultry market offering huge potential to reduce the environmental impact of meat packaging

     2010

    • April: Groupe Guillin acquire Sharp Interpack from the De Jager brothers.
    • Poultry: Launch of new cut sizes for Germany - 190*144*50
    • Launch of SPF500 range of soft fruit punnets for the European market in 5 variable sizes with two lid heights. 10 up box fit format.
    • Launch of c-LOW - the lowest carbon footprint punnet ever produced - 23% lower than conventional PP combining a naturally resourced filler blended with post consumer waste.
    • Launch of SPSAir - the first soft fruit punnet with sloping vents providing continuous airflow even when stacked with 20% less condensation. 
    • Launch of SPS range of soft fruit punnets in 4 depths heat sealed or lidded. Optimal product visibility.  

    2009

    • Introducing Sharplok  padless tray doubling the moisture capacity of the original Sharplok design first introduced by Sharpak in 2003 
    • Launch of a range of PP punnets and trays using UK stream post consumer r-HDPE
    • Breakthrough in crate fit: Launch of new range of SPS fresh produce punnets in the UK with up to 80% recycled content and 19 in a crate heat sealed or 18 lidded
    • Opening sales office in Barcelona

         2008    

    • Opening of new thermoforming hall in Yate.
    • Launch of Euro SPEP range for The Greenery soft fruit packaging in Northern Europe.
    • Launch of Fish PP range for Tesco.
    • Natural mineral additives into the blend for r-PP mushroom punnets


         2007    

    • Launch of Euro SP & PP range for Sainsbury & Tesco soft fruit packaging in Spain and Southern Europe.


         2006    

    • Opening of new extrusion hall in Bridgwater.
    • Purchase of Rexam Yate to consolidate market leading positions in Fresh Produce, Meat and Poultry packaging.
    • Launch of Sainsbury's Taste The Difference fruit packaging.


        2005    

    • Opening of new thermoforming hall in Bridgwater.
    • Opening of new on site computerised warehouse in Aylesham.
    • Launch of M.A.P. APET/Pe AB de-nest "D" shallow tray range.


       2004    

    • Launch of automatic de-nest "flights" for the UK bakery industry.
    • Launch of modified APET "P" range for Albert Heijn, Holland.


       2003    

    • Launch of M.A.P. PP "S" range for all UK supermarkets fresh poultry.


      2002    

    • Establishment of Sharp Interpack Ltd.
    • Launch of SP range of single size supermarket crate fit punnets.

     2001

    • De Jager brothers purchase MY Plastics and change name back to Sharp Interpack Ltd
    • Establishment of European sales office in Holland.
    • Launch of High Clarity PP punnets for Marks & Spencer produce.

    1986

    • Becomes MY Sharp Interpack Ltd through purchase by MY Holdings.

    1964

    • Sharp Interpack established by Tony Sharp at Whitstable,Kent.
